Location 110 East Oak Avenue,Tampa, FL, 33602,United States Base Pay $84,000.00 - $88,000.00 / Year Job Category Development, Full Time Employee Type FT Exempt Contact information Name Jody Thorson Email View email address on click.appcast.io POSITION SUMMARY Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Mission Advancement, the Major Gifts & Annual Campaign Director is responsible for leading Association-wide annual campaign strategies, cultivating and managing major gift relationships, and strengthening the fundraising capacity of Advisory Boards, volunteers, and the organization. The role equips Center Executive Directors and teams with the tools, resources, training, processes, and coaching necessary to effectively build philanthropic relationships and achieve fundraising goals within their communities. While Center Executive Directors maintain ownership and accountability for their respective center fundraising goals, this role provides leadership and guidance throughout the full fundraising cycle, including campaign planning, donor cultivation, solicitation strategy, stewardship practices, volunteer engagement, and donor relationship management. The Director also maintains an individual Association-level fundraising portfolio. This role develops and implements stewardship plans designed to strengthen donor relationships and retention and ensures meaningful donor engagement across annual campaigns and community initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Quality/Growth Leads the development and implementation of Association-wide annual giving strategies aligned with approved strategic priorities and campaign objectives. Leads, manages, and maintains accountability for the planning, execution, and achievement of the Association Office Annual Giving Campaign, including strategy development, volunteer engagement, donor cultivation, campaign performance, and achievement of established fundraising goals. Serves as the primary fundraising advisor to Center Executive Directors, providing strategic guidance, coaching, and tools to strengthen local development efforts, expand community and donor relationships, and support all phases of the fundraising cycle, from planning and cultivation through solicitation, stewardship, and volunteer engagement. Develops and implements fundraising toolkits, resources, templates, communication materials, and best practices that enable center teams to successfully execute annual giving initiatives. Creates and delivers volunteer and staff development training focused on fundraising fundamentals, relationship building, donor engagement, storytelling, and effective face-to-face solicitation techniques. Maintains an individual fundraising portfolio and is accountable for achieving assigned Association-level fundraising goals, including major donor cultivation and community relationship development. Partners with development support staff, finance, accounting, and data management teams to ensure contribution processing, donor acknowledgements, stewardship activities, and data integrity processes are consistently followed. Leads development and implementation of communication strategies supporting donor cultivation, annual campaigns, volunteer engagement, board engagement, and stewardship initiatives. Creates systems and processes that enhance fundraising effectiveness and strengthen the Association’s long-term development capacity in alignment with the Strategic Plan. Develops and oversees an Association-wide donor stewardship strategy, ensuring meaningful donor engagement, recognition, acknowledgment, retention, and consistent stewardship practices across all annual campaign and fundraising activities. Celebrates and recognizes campaign successes, volunteers, staff, and donor contributions in meaningful ways that reinforce a culture of philanthropy throughout the Association. Safety and Risk Management Adheres to all Federal, State, and local safety regulations, as well as all YMCA policies and procedures related to the safety, health, and welfare of members, participants, guests, and staff. Ensures that all Tampa YMCA standards, leading practices, and policies are implemented and consistently followed, including those related to emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, and appropriate supervision. Adheres to policies and procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising participants and boundaries with participants when applicable. Ensures implementation of and follows all training requirements including risk management and child abuse prevention training in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures. Always maintains a safe and healthy environment, including performing daily safety checks of program areas, equipment, and supplies. Maintains proper records, including certifications, meetings and trainings. Maintains an emphasis on safety in all areas of responsibility as they relate to members and staff. Adheres to risk management training requirements including child abuse prevention. Front desk personnel—ensure member or association guest are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Contributes to creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for members, guests, and staff. Promptly reports any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, as well as policy violations, following established association procedures. Additional responsibilities Creates and nurtures leadership development opportunities that build staff and volunteer fundraising capacity throughout the Association. Assists in all areas as assigned. Attends and actively participates in meetings, events, trainings, conferences, and Association initiatives as assigned by supervisor. Leads and actively participates in projects, workgroups, design teams, strategic initiatives, training opportunities, and special projects as assigned by supervisor. Demonstrates flexibility in supporting the changing needs of the Association and may assume additional responsibilities during campaign periods, strategic initiatives, and special events. Completes all other duties assigned Allocation of time (Estimated and subject to seasonal priorities) Develops and implements Association-wide stewardship strategies and donor engagement initiatives – 30% Leads and achieves Association annual giving campaign goals and maintain individual fundraising portfolio – 30% Supports, coaches, and engages Center Executive Directors and leadership teams in annual giving strategy, execution, and campaign achievement – 25% Staff development, volunteer training, reporting, administration, and special projects – 15% Requirements Education / Experience Required Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship management, with a proven ability to achieve fundraising goals and build philanthropic support. BA/BS from an accredited college or university in business, non-profit management, public relations or related field, or equivalent experience required. Ability to adapt and work under pressure in a rapidly changing, deadline driven environment. Ability to coordinate, monitor and manage individual and group progress against goals. Excellent time management, prioritizing, and organization skills. Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective individual goals and take ownership for results. Proven ability to work within specific time constraints. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making. Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures. Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, customer service/tracking applications) with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology. A valid driver’s license and driving record that meets The Tampa YMCA insurance requirements. Certifications / Trainings Required Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration. Maintain other required certifications as assigned by supervisor. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone/smart device. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including but not limited to, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment. Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Performance indicators may include annual giving results, donor pipeline growth, campaign effectiveness, stewardship execution, and Association-wide development capacity building.
