Details Progressive Care Unit (Neuro/Ortho/Trauma/Stroke) within a hospital setting Patient population includes post-TNK, ortho, crani-neurosurgery, laminectomy, and polytrauma cases Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 25-bed unit Uses lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices Administers heparin drips, PCAs, and 3% sodium (preferred) Epic EMR experience required Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (3x12s accommodated if preferred), 48 hrs/week No on-call requirements Weekend rotation required, typically every other or every third weekend including holidays Floating required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses Requirements Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) NIHSS certification required (can be completed during onboarding) ACLS certification preferred 24 months of Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Medical-Surgical experience in a hospital setting required Neuro/neurology and ortho/orthopedic care experience required Trauma care experience highly preferred Experience with lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo required Experience administering heparin and PCAs required Experience administering 3% sodium preferred Must have completed at least one previous travel contract within the last 12 months Driver's license required for consideration Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the last 24 months preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care within a neuro/ortho/trauma/stroke progressive care environment Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) are restricted from working travel assignments at other UPH market facilities within 12 months of separation American Traveler Job ID P-767892.
