• Fully Remote. Occasionally Travel to meet with Family to discuss finances (NY/NJ Area)

• .High Profile Family. Your job will be split between their FO and Foundation. You'll be responsible for all Accounting/Ops/Compliance. This role is not Fund or Investment Accounting.

About the Opportunity

\n

Our client is seeking a highly organized, hands-on, and entrepreneurial Controller to manage and optimize the internal financial infrastructure for a lean, high-growth Family Office and global Foundation.

\n

\n

This role is designed for an operator who excels in a direct-support environment to a high-net-worth principal. The ideal candidate will seamlessly balance corporate accounting, foundation compliance, and personal financial management with a high degree of precision, discretion, and operational ownership.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Financial Operations & Management

\n

\n
• Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage daily general ledger operations, monthly/quarterly/annual closes, bank reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).
\n
• Accounts Payable & Cash Management: Oversee all bill pay, wire transfers, ACH payments, and expense management, ensuring proper coding and record-keeping.
\n
• Payroll Processing: Execute bi-weekly payroll for core office staff and handle necessary payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
\n

Personal Finance & Foundation Compliance

\n

\n
• Principal Personal Finances: Manage all accounting, personal expense tracking, travel policy oversight, and credit card/reimbursement processing for the Principal.
\n
• Foundation & Compliance: Oversee foundation accounting, tracking grant distributions, coordinating annual audits, and preparing materials for tax filings (including Form 990-PF / 4990 compliance).
\n
• Vendor & Tax Liaison: Serve as the primary operational contact for external tax accounting firms, auditors, insurance brokers, and legal partners.
\n

Process Automation & Systems

\n

\n
• Systems Maintenance: Utilize and manage core accounting software platforms ( QuickBooks Online , payroll tools, and expense/AP systems.
\n
• Workflow Automation: Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows, build clean data feeds, and improve reporting efficiency across entities.
\n

\n

Candidate Qualifications

\n

Experience: 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership in a Family Office, single-founder business, high-net-worth personal finance seat, or boutique accounting firm setting.

\n

\n

Technical Skills:

\n

\n
• Deep proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and modern financial technology tools.
\n
• Accounting Rigor: Hands-on multi-entity accounting background with a clear understanding of general ledger mechanics, tax compliance, and payroll processing. Big 4 or public audit background is a strong plus.
\n
• Execution Focus: A true "operator" mindset—someone who embraces hands-on execution (data entry, reconciliations, bill pay) rather than solely managing external teams.
\n
• Communication & Discretion: Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and absolute discretion when handling sensitive financial and personal data.
\n
• Credentials: CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but relevant hands-on operational track record is paramount.
\n
