Buyer III – Contracts & Procurement

Position located at EGLIN AFB, FL. Full-time, exempt, security clearance: Secret. Required education: Associate's Degree or higher. One hire needed.

Essential Functions

This role is responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement of a broad range of parts, materials, and specialized services that exceed the Micro-Purchase Threshold (MPT) and require competitive procurement. The position ensures full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the acquisition life‑cycle. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing acquisitions from planning through contract closeout.
• Ensuring procurement actions are conducted fairly, transparently, and in the best interest of the government.
• Maintaining contract files in compliance with FAR.
• Performing post‑award contract administration, monitoring contractor performance, processing contract modifications, approving payments, and executing contract closeout procedures.

General Duties

• Oversee the entire life‑cycle of a contract, from acquisition planning to close‑out.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and provide guidance.
• Familiarity with FAR and DFARS is highly desired.
• Personal computer skills related to purchasing; Costpoint experience is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the procurement process.
• Working knowledge of standard contract types.
• Prepare RFPs, conduct bidder conferences, develop evaluation criteria, evaluate proposals, negotiate requirements, and recommend suppliers.
• Create purchase order documentation to include Justification & Approval (J&A) aligned with FAR/DFARS.
• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers for on‑time delivery.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance throughout the purchasing cycle.
• Implement strategies to meet Small Business and Disadvantaged Plan goals.

Additional Duties

Supports E‑OMS operational objectives. May be assigned additional duties to support contract/mission support requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field.
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years in federal government contracting or procurement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Costpoint experience desirable.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to use independent judgment and make decisions.
• Self‑starter capable of multitasking with high professionalism and work ethic.
• Eligibility and ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD issued security clearance.
• Background investigation and drug test required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work activities performed in an office setting on EGLIN AFB, FL. Requires substantial wrist, hand, or finger movements, close visual acuity for data analysis and computer use, minimal lifting, and prolonged sitting.
