Position Overview Full‑Time Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) for Barnes‑Jewish Hospital (St. Louis, MO) – BJH CDL South and BJH CDL CAM. $7,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates. New grads, upcoming grads and experienced sonographers welcome to apply. Position Details Day Shift Hours: 4–10 hour shifts per week (7 am–5:30 pm) with rotating days off Paid Saturday rotation: approximately once a month, 8 hr shift 07:30–16:00 with an additional day off during the week Closed on Sundays and major holidays No after‑hours call Performs transthoracic echocardiography exams for inpatient and outpatient GE equipment with newer GE E95 machines, PICOM Imaging/Reporting system, EPIC Echocardiographic imaging, 3‑D echocardiography, transplanted heart and lungs Testing modalities include transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress transthoracic echocardiography Requirements Associate’s degree or trade‑school equivalency Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Echocardiographer, Echocardiography Technologist, Cardiac Sonographer, Echo Tech are acceptable terms. Preferred Qualifications Experience in advanced modalities such as 3‑D, right heart strain, TAPSE, PISA, transcatheter pre/post valve repair/replacement, HOCM, etc. Familiarity with IAC accreditation and ASE guidelines is a plus. Responsibilities Performs complex echocardiography exams at various locations throughout the academic campus Evaluates cardiovascular patient clinical assessment for cardiac conditions and identifies abnormalities Reviews and correlates patient history, including corrective procedures and surgeries, applying independent clinical judgment during exam to ensure appropriate anatomical, pathophysiology and clinical conditions are captured Acquires advanced modalities as trained (3‑D, right heart strain, TAPSE, PISA, transcatheter pre/post valve repair/replacement, HOCM, etc.) Communicates with healthcare team for collaboration of care, reviews examination images, synthesizes results and prepares preliminary findings to support the interpreting physician echocardiographer, contributing technical impressions and professional knowledge to facilitate final diagnostic reports for clinical care Education Associate or trade school equivalency Licenses & Certifications Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Experience No prior experience required; new graduates eligible Supervisor Experience None required Benefits Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services available first day of the month after hire date Disability insurance paid for by BJC Annual 4% BJC Automatic Retirement Contribution 401(k) plan with BJC match Tuition assistance available on first day BJC Institute for Learning and Development Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts Paid Time Off benefit combining vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time Adoption assistance Not all benefits apply to all jobs.
