Description Job Description STATUS: Per Diem LOCATION: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital DEPARTMENT: Radiology SCHEDULE: Per Diem On call: 1 weekend a month. SUMMARY As a Sonographer, you play an important part in high-quality imaging exams needed to deliver quality care to our patients. The Rochester Regional Health Imaging and Radiology team is led by subspecialty and board-certified radiologists, nurses, and technicians providing the highest quality diagnostic and treatment imaging services to the Western, Central, and Finger Lakes New York communities. Perform abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and/or transcranial Doppler ultrasound scans; produce ultrasound images and obtain all required measurements; assist attending physicians with invasive procedures under sonographic guidance Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action Documentation. Note performance of scans in patient charts and complete preliminary reporting; phone preliminary reports in to doctor's offices or nursing floors at the request of the Radiologist Room Preparation. Clean, sto,ck and prepare the room daily. Minimum Qualifications: A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate or a Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound is required Required Licensure/Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
