Products are configured around individual customer applications, creating a highly consultative environment where sales, engineering and project-support teams work closely together. With the architectural specification function now being developed further, this is an opportunity to join at an important stage of growth and help shape how the company engages architects, specifiers and design firms nationally.Job DescriptionDevelop relationships with architects, specifiers, designers, general contractors and other key stakeholders within the commercial construction community. Drive product specifications early in the design cycle, helping establish solutions as the Basis of Design on relevant projects. Build awareness and specification activity within CSI Division 8, with a primary focus on retrofit security glazing and related protection systems. Deliver engaging presentations, product demonstrations and Lunch & Learn sessions to architectural and design firms. Educate architects and specifiers on product applications, performance characteristics and appropriate security solutions. Identify projects and opportunities where the company's products can be incorporated during the planning and design stages. Partner with Regional Sales Managers to create pull-through opportunities and convert specification activity into commercial sales. Collaborate closely with internal Engineering, Estimating and Project Support teams to provide technically appropriate solutions. Develop long-term relationships with architectural practices capable of generating recurring specification opportunities across multiple projects. Represent the business at meetings, industry events and customer presentations across the US. Help create the processes and strategy for a growing architectural specification function.The Successful ApplicantThe successful candidate will combine technical building-products knowledge with strong relationship-building and presentation skills. They will ideally bring approximately 4-7 years of relevant experience and be motivated by the opportunity to grow alongside an expanding business. We are particularly interested in candidates who have: experience within building materials, architectural products, commercial glazing, glass systems, doors or related construction products; a track record of working directly with architects, specifiers, designers and/or general contractors; understanding of the architectural specification process and how products become incorporated into project designs; knowledge of CSI Division 8 products or specifications; security-related product experience would be particularly attractive; the technical aptitude to understand engineered products and confidently communicate their applications and benefits; experience presenting to architectural audiences and delivering Lunch & Learn sessions; strong communication, relationship-development and consultative selling skills; the ability to work effectively across Sales, Engineering, Estimating and project-support functions; a proactive, growth-oriented approach and an interest in helping build a relatively new capability within an organization; willingness to travel approximately 30-40%.What's on Offer120,000-130,000 base salary, 5-10% target annual bonus, approximately $5,000 target profit sharing, fully remote working, with the flexibility to live anywhere in the US, approximately 30-40% travel, 401(k) and comprehensive standard benefits, 401(k) company match of 100% up to 10% of compensation after one year, permanent, direct-hire opportunity, opportunity to join a business investing in growth across new markets and product categories, a newly created position, giving the successful candidate scope to influence how the architectural specification function develops, longer-term potential to progress into leadership as the team and function expand.
