Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking an Accountant to work in the Finance Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in providing meaningful work that has a real impact in our community. Salary ranges effective 07/11/2026:

Expected Hiring Range: $25.53 - $31.27/Hour

• Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.

Salary Range: $25.52 - $37.01/Hour

Examples of Duties

• Assists in maintaining the general ledger including the preparation of journal entries; assists with the financial audits. • Reconciles balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable for various grants and CIP projects; prepares periodic reimbursement requests. • Prepares reports, such as unclaimed property and financial surveys. • Provides support by assisting on various projects and answering general accounting inquiries as needed, including tax related questions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Over one year of experience in accounting/finance.
• Must complete the Town of Marana Background check.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or closely related field.
• Governmental accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Access.
