Civil Rights Litigation Attorney – Section 1983 Trials Mission Recruiting is representing a respected California law firm seeking a Senior Civil Rights Litigation Attorney with 10+ years of litigation experience and a proven record of first-chair Section 1983 trials. Based in Fullerton, California , this full-time opportunity is designed for an experienced trial attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy, litigation strategy, and representing public entities and law enforcement agencies in high-exposure civil rights matters. The successful candidate will manage complex civil rights litigation from inception through verdict, with opportunities to lead depositions, motion practice, jury selection, and trial proceedings. Salary: $200,000–$250,000 annually Location: Fullerton, California Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with remote work permitted except for client meetings, depositions, and team meetings Experience: 10+ years of civil rights litigation Trial Experience: At least five first-chair Section 1983 trials to verdict Billable Hours: 1,800 annually Responsibilities Manage Section 1983 civil rights litigation from inception through verdict. Represent public entities and law enforcement agencies in high-exposure civil rights matters. Serve as first-chair trial counsel and lead trial strategy. Conduct depositions, discovery, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations. Handle complex motion practice, including motions in limine. Participate in jury selection and trial proceedings. Prepare pleadings, briefs, motions, and other legal documents. Interview clients and witnesses and maintain effective case communications. Provide regular case updates and strategic guidance to clients. Manage litigation deadlines, case development, and trial preparation. Qualifications 10+ years of civil rights litigation experience. At least five first-chair Section 1983 trials to verdict. J.D. from an accredited law school. Active California State Bar license in good standing. Strong knowledge of the California Evidence Code and California civil procedure. Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
