Registered Nurse

The position involves providing nursing care in a progressive care unit. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients and interpreting dysrhythmias. Emergency response protocols will be utilized as required. Cardiovascular care, including post cardiac catheterization and pre/post cardiac surgery management, is expected. Management of endocrine/metabolic issues, including insulin IV protocols, is required. The nurse will provide gastrointestinal care, such as feeding tube management. Genitourinary care involves pre/post hemodialysis management. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills are essential, including blood product administration and central line management. Management of medications is required, including heparin protocols and procedural sedation administration. Neurological care involves managing cerebrovascular accidents. Orthopedic care includes peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacements. Respiratory care will include chest tube management and non-invasive airway management. Isolation precautions and wound care are an integral part of the nursing responsibilities. This position may involve weekend shifts and holiday assignments as needed. Patients will typically range from adults to geriatrics. The daily census is approximately 31 patients. The position requires effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including therapy and pharmacy services. Special procedures and protocols will be followed to ensure patient safety and quality care. Candidates should be adaptable and willing to fulfill the requirements of the unit as needed.
