Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors. This position is for an Engineer in the Boost Control System (BCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the BCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the control systems used during the boost phase of the missiles flight.This role is for a Mechanical Engineer for a Mechanical Controls team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: manage hardware components, be empowered to develop technical solutions, and potentially be the technical lead of a component throughout different phases of the product life-cycle (qualification, production, service support, aging, etc.). The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of mechanical design and any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion, rocketry, aerodynamics, mechanisms, or materials or fluids.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related discipline - Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of studyProfessional experience with complex mechanical design model and/or drawing interpretationProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAny combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion rocketry, aerodynamics, mechanisms, and/or fluidsUnderstanding of Engineering LifecycleAbility to work in a collaborative and team-based environmentDesired Skills:Missile/rocket and/or aerospace-related education or experienceExperience with CAD and hardware modeling tools (e.g. SolidWorks/CREO, Matlab)Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellantsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiativeProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practicePay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
