Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Electronics Technician to support the development, testing, manufacturing, and repair of advanced electronic systems used in UAV, robotic, avionics, and other mission-critical products. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on electronics skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and experience working with both prototype and production hardware. Successful candidates will have a passion for solving technical challenges, and attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic assemblies, circuit boards, and complete systems.
• Troubleshoot failed units from the system level down to the component level and assist engineering in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Implement engineering change orders (ECOs) and red-line schematic updates by performing PCB-level modifications, component replacements, and circuit rework.
• Perform precision soldering and rework of both Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole components in accordance with IPC and J-STD standards.
• Assemble, test, and validate avionics, UAV, robotic, battery management, power distribution, sensor, and embedded electronic systems.
• Develop, author, and maintain test procedures, work instructions, travelers, and assembly documentation.
• Document troubleshooting activities, observations, rework instructions, and nonconformance reports.
• Perform operational, functional, environmental, and acceptance testing of electronic hardware and assemblies.
• Configure, operate, verify, and maintain electronic test equipment and automated test systems.
• Support environmental testing activities including thermal cycling, vibration, shock, and vacuum testing.
• Assist in defining test equipment requirements and the integration of new test capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams during prototype development, product validation, and design improvement efforts.
• Provide training and technical guidance to junior technicians as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

• Associate Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics Technology, or equivalent technical training.
• Military electronics training or equivalent hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Minimum five (5) years of electronics troubleshooting, repair, test, manufacturing, or related experience.
• Experience working with PCB assemblies, embedded systems, avionics, robotics, UAV systems, or similar electronic products preferred.
• Experience supporting both prototype and production hardware environments is highly desirable.
• Strong SMT and through-hole soldering, rework, and repair skills.
• Ability to replace fine-pitch ICs, BGAs, QFNs, and other surface-mount devices using professional rework equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and engineering change documentation.
• Ability to implement red-line schematic changes and perform PCB-level modifications.
• Ability to build and repair power, RF, communication, and data I/O cable assemblies.
• Ability to make electrical measurements including voltage, current, resistance, continuity, and signal integrity evaluations.
• Proficiency using laboratory equipment including:
• Experience troubleshooting analog, digital, RF, and power electronics circuits.
• Working knowledge of embedded electronics and microcontroller-based systems.
• Experience using soldering stations, hot-air rework stations, microscopes, and SMT rework equipment.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining detailed technical documentation.
• IPC 7711/7721 soldering experience with both surface-mount and through-hole assemblies.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience programming, configuring, debugging, or testing microcontroller-based systems (STM32, Microchip, ESP32, NXP, TI, or similar platforms).
• Experience using PCB design software such as Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD, Cadence, or similar tools.
• Ability to review PCB layouts and support board-level design modifications.
• Familiarity with UAV, autonomous systems, robotics, flight-control electronics, telemetry systems, sensors, and communications hardware.
• Experience developing automated test equipment (ATE) and hardware test fixtures.
• Experience with AS9100D Quality Management Systems.
• Familiarity with configuration management and engineering change processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint).

Working Conditions:

• Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
• Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
• Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
• The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
• Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
• Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
• Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
• Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
