Job Title Registered Nurse – Surgery (H) Locations SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mount Vernon, IL SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Centralia, IL Schedule Full-time, Day Shift (40 hours/week) Pay Range $31.21 - $49.94 per hour Job Summary Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Responsibilities Support surgical services with high‑quality, patient-centered care Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment Ensure safe pre‑, intra‑ and post‑operative nursing practices Contribute to continuous improvement and exceptional patient outcomes Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age‑specific and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide response to current and evolving health and nursing needs Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner Performs other duties as assigned Education Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing Experience No experience required Physical Requirements Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication Constant standing and walking Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more), and to identify and distinguish colors Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs Occasional lifting/moving of patients Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements Occasional driving Rare crawling and running Licensure & Certifications State of Work Location: Illinois – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) State of Work Location: Missouri – BLS HCP – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State State of Work Location: Oklahoma – BLS HCP – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) State of Work Location: Wisconsin – BLS HCP – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services Benefits Paid Parental Leave – one week of paid leave for newborns or newly adopted children (pro-rated based on FTE) Flexible Payment Option – voluntary benefit through DailyPay offering instant access to earned, unpaid base pay before payday (fees may apply) Upfront Tuition Coverage – upfront tuition coverage through FlexPath Funded for eligible team members Equal Opportunity Employer SSM Health is an equal opportunity employer.
