Safety is a mindset, not a task.Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoors.Accept, make, and pass high-quality product. Minimize cost of poor quality with training and improvement.Ensure all quality checks and paperwork are complete as expected and without error.Maintain the work instructions, best-practices, and material flow to ensure that products are manufactured on schedule and within quality and cost objectives.Responsible for supervising the daily work of all production personnel and communicating to supervisor as appropriate.Lead culture through positive interactions, motivation and recognition as needed.Train, or arrange training of, shift personnel to ensure consistent methods and results.Communicates daily with all levels of employees regarding daily safety, quality and production metrics to be achieved, and on-going training and development activities. Communicates regularly with direct reports on their personal and team achievements and improvements needed, so that these individuals understand what is expected of them and their team.Maintaining a positive and engaged work environment for all personnel.Ability to effectively communicate between different shifts, personnel, and leadership.Leads shift start up'stand-up' meeting constructivelyAbility to work in the assigned area and lead in metrics while maintaining safety and quality expectations.Maintain housekeeping and an orderly production environment that is thoroughly cleaned for the following shift.If applicable based on location, help assess and manage the team's bench strength and cross training needsIf applicable based on location, lead the Team on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to understand losses; take action to prevent future breakdowns and incidentsDevelop a strong personal understanding of all processes and equipment within the assigned departmentMonitor equipment condition and plan downtime for repairs and preventative maintenanceIf applicable based on the location and/or department, the Production Lead may work around chemicals such as acids, caustics, and zinc used in the galvanizing process. Safe handling procedures, proper PPE use, and compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations is required.If applicable based on the location and/or department, the individual is required to work safely while wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes the use of a respirator or Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR). Compliance with OSHA standards requires the successful completion of a medical questionnaire, training and a respirator fit test, which may necessitate trimming or removing facial hair that interferes with the proper seal of the respirator.All other duties as required and/or assigned.Important Details about the RoleThe employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer.The employee is responsible for their own work.Ability to interact with diverse groups of people.Good organizational and communication skills.This position reports to the Production SupervisorRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)High School Diploma or GED equivalent.One year of leadership experience (ideally in an industrial and/or manufacturing setting).Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.Maintain a safe and productive working environment.The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.Knowledge of all varieties of machines and fabrication.General knowledge and experience in the assigned area.Must have strong mechanical aptitude including ability to read micrometers, flatness and radius gauges, tape measures, and if applicable based on location, blueprints.Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in operation of forklift and, if applicable based on location, overhead crane.Valid Driver's License and safe driving record.A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and OutlookExcellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsMust have a high awareness for safety at all times.Associates's degree in related field.Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.Two years experience in a leadership role in a fast paced manufacturing environmentSix Sigma ceritification and/or training.The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions .The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive mannerA strong working knowledge of IFSComputer Software: Microsoft Office products, Workday, IFSBenefitsValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family's overall wellness needs are met.
