Averro is hiring a Validation Engineer for an exciting Energy Technology startup that is redefining carbon capture. This is a high impact role where you will sit at the intersection of R&D, Product, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, making sure that what gets built in the lab can actually be manufactured and delivered at scale. Travel is mandatory to R&D laboratory, where you will be embedded with the R&D team to make sure materials and components are tested and validated before they ever make it into production.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Own the bridge between R&D and production, ensuring materials and components meet real world business requirements Build and lead a stage-gate process to evaluate early concepts and fast track the most promising technologies Develop and execute rigorous test plans with the R&D team before advancing to the next phase Establish a clear qualification and validation framework for materials and parts across company technologies Define acceptance criteria and test strategies for key materials ahead of major procurement decisions Identify and drive down the top technical risks involved in scaling components Build strong cross functional relationships across R&D, engineering, and supply chain Empower the business to make confident, data driven decisions on multi million dollar material investments

QUALIFICATIONS:

5–10 years of experience in test engineering or product validation Proven experience developing and executing test plans, validation strategies, or qualification programs in one or more of the following environments: Industrial, energy, or chemical process systems, aerospace or space systems, biotechnology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., process validation, CQV, GMP environments). Advanced hardware or deep-tech startups scaling from prototype to production Experience working in innovative or first-of-a-kind (FOAK), pilot-scale, or early commercialization environments where technologies are transitioning from R&D to production Deep understanding of lightweight stage gate processes and use cases understanding one size does not fit all needs Strong understanding of material properties, performance testing, and failure mechanisms (or analogous experience validating complex components/systems under real-world conditions) Experience force multiplying R&D and production, including translating early-stage concepts into specifications, test methods, and acceptance criteria ahead of launch Familiarity with quality and reliability tools (APQP, FMEA, DOE, SPC, root cause analysis), or biotech equivalents (IQ/OQ/PQ, validation protocols, statistical process validation) Experience supporting supplier qualification, technology transfer, or manufacturing scale-up Ability to operate in environments with high uncertainty, evolving data, and emerging requirements Averro is an equal opportunity employer.
