Engineer Enterprise Data Intelligence

Location: Hattie Mae White Department: Enterprise Systems Data Intelligence Area: District Wide Contract Months: 12 Salary Range: $84,127.00 – $138,810.00 Academic Year: 26-27 JOB SUMMARY The Engineer Enterprise Data Intelligence supports the development and maintenance of data pipelines, datasets, and dashboards used across HISD’s ERP domains. This role works with data from Oracle Fusion, SAP, and related enterprise systems to ensure that reports are timely, accurate, and aligned with operational needs. The Engineer collaborates with senior staff and analysts to deliver visualizations and data sets in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, supporting districtwide decision‑making. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Build and maintain data flows between enterprise systems and Microsoft Fabric. Support the development and publishing of datasets and reports in Power BI. Work with stakeholders to clarify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Perform data validation, formatting, and cleansing to ensure accuracy and consistency. Monitor data refreshes and troubleshoot technical issues. Document logic, formulas, and source systems used in each report or dashboard. Support historical reporting and reconciliation efforts during ERP transition periods. Assist with user access, workspace permissions, and role‑level security in Power BI. Participate in testing new datasets, visuals, and platform features. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, or a related field required. WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years of experience in data reporting, analytics, or engineering. Familiarity with ERP systems and Power BI required. Experience with Microsoft Fabric a plus. SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION Working knowledge of SQL, DAX, and data transformation tools. Experience building and supporting Power BI datasets and reports. Familiarity with data pipeline tools such as Azure Data Factory. Understanding of data quality, data governance, and user access principles. Strong collaboration and documentation skills. Certifications in Power BI or Microsoft data platforms preferred. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Works independently under the guidance of senior engineers or architects. May coordinate assigned tasks or support user‑facing efforts. WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT Resolves standard technical and data challenges independently. Seeks direction for complex modeling or system design tasks. BUDGET AUTHORITY None. PROBLEM SOLVING Troubleshoots refresh failures, mismatched data, and formula issues. Suggests process improvements to enhance data workflows. IMPACT OF DECISIONS Supports frontline operational reports. Errors may impact school budgets, staffing reports, or compliance dashboards. COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS Collaborates with analysts, data users, and platform administrators. Participates in user training or feedback loops. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS Supports internal customers by delivering clear, timely data solutions that meet departmental needs. WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS May require extra hours during critical reporting windows or ERP data transitions.
