Job Title: Progressive Critical Care Unit Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: State nursing license required Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required Must-Have: Epic experience required Navy blue scrubs required Description: The nurses in the Progressive Critical Care Unit care for some of the most medically delicate and surgically complex patients. Patients may present with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations. Skills in advanced hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols, antihypertensive drips, sedative drips, and naloxone drips are essential. Experience with thrombo-embolytics, central venous pressure monitoring, external ventricular drains, orthopaedic traction, and infection prevention protocols is required. Knowledge of high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen-dependent care is necessary. Nurses with large-scale adult care experience in progressive units and community hospital ICU experience tend to excel in this environment. The average patient load is three high acuity patients. A competency test will be administered.
