About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of M/S Ortho experience. Traveler experience accepted for first-time travelers. Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy. Experience with respiratory management techniques. Knowledge of isolation precautions and use of PPE. Description: The unit primarily focuses on surgical orthopedics and joints. Most common diagnoses include total knee replacement, total hip replacement, spinal fusions, and some overflow cases. Average daily census is 34 patients. The unit features 48 beds. Nursing staff will be expected to float as needed. All nurses will work every other weekend. Daily patient ratio is 5 patients per nurse. Special procedures on the unit include the management of frequent wound vacs and drains. The unit operates using specific electronic health record systems. Candidates must be prepared for EKG testing prior to start. No call requirements are in place. Training and support staff are available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Preferred skills also include familiarity with total joint replacement procedures. The environment can include occasional medical overflow cases. Nurses are required to wear navy blue scrubs.
