Product Developer

This multi-faceted position is responsible for providing technical support in creating Product Specification Tech Packs for development and finalizing the details for production; as well as participating in design priority and development hand-off meetings. This position works closely with Design/Development in reviewing new fabrics, techniques, and product types during product development to provide technical input while identifying product test needs and working with vendors to obtain the required preliminary testing.

• Responsible for preparing detailed and complete development packets to initiate new project development within PLM data base system.
• Work closely with NY design and development teams and attend regular hand-off meeting to ensure details and data is accurately input and updated in the PLM system for the following:
  • Material information
  • Construction information
  • Embellishment information
  • Specifications and product size details
  • Bill of material set up and components sku's
  • Label placement instructions
  • Care instructions
  • Add attributes to components and fabric records
  • Complete component BOMS and attach components to product set BOM's
• Work closely with the vendors to finalize fiber content, to include requesting preliminary test reports for verification of blended fiber content and recommended care instructions for unique fabrics.
• Responsible for communicating any potential quality issues to all relative teams, providing approved DAS for QA requirements and maintaining all relative workflow tasks (including keeping all status updates posted).
• Responsible for reviewing new or unique substrates/fabrics and product types, as requested by NY design/PDA teams to assist in identify any potential QA issues.
• Responsible for communicating sample/fabrication, engraving, strike-offs and lab dip comments in a timely manner
• Responsible for setting up initial project workflow process allowing for the development to be properly tracked, prior to being sold.
• Responsible for making any spec revisions or changes required during the development stage and once the spec is finalized for production, when there is cause for adjustments after a spec has been issued.
• Responsible for tracking the DAS process to ensure it is set up in time for the vendor and quality teams to have it available for inspections. To include following up with each respective designer or PDA on the status of the DAS submits and communicate the crucial timelines to stay ahead of the required deadlines for completion.
• Responsible for processing final QC standards and reviewing them against the TEMP standard as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment including the storage and common areas (mail room, design tables and desk areas)

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or Textiles or related discipline; or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong computer skills with working knowledge of PLM or similar Development data base system, Microsoft Office programs to include Excel and Adobe AI
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in order to effectively communicate and report information to all levels of the Company
• Basic knowledge of sizing/grading, material substrate and product constructions
• Possess strong organizational and analytical skills
