Accounting Manager/ControllerLHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for an Accounting Manager or Controller, for an in-office opportunity in the far Westend of Richmond, Virginia.We are partnering with a growing, technology-enabled financial services organization seeking a Controller to lead and scale its accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role or an experienced Controller looking for a hands-on leadership position in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.This role is fully onsite and reports directly to senior leadership.Position OverviewThe Controller will oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including financial reporting, month-end close, general ledger management, and audit coordination. This is a player-coach role, requiring both hands-on execution and team leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial ReportingOwn monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesMaintain general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesPrepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAPEnsure timely and accurate reporting to leadershipManage accruals, journal entries, and account analysesOperations & ControlsStrengthen internal controls and accounting processesEnsure audit readiness and support external audit activitiesOversee compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirementsIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracyTeam LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a small accounting teamEstablish clear expectations and accountability across functionsFoster a high-performing, collaborative team environmentSystems & Process ImprovementSupport and optimize accounting systems and financial toolsPartner with internal stakeholders on automation and process enhancementsLeverage technology to improve reporting and operational efficiencyQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA strongly preferred7–10+ years of progressive accounting experienceExperience owning the full close cycle and working with external auditorsStrong knowledge of US GAAPPrior experience in financial services, mortgage, real estate, or similar industries preferredDemonstrated leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership roleIdeal Candidate ProfileStable career progression with increasing responsibilityStrong attention to detail and accountabilityComfortable in a hands-on, high-visibility roleTech-savvy with advanced Excel skills and openness to new systems and tools (including AI-enabled solutions)Dependable, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindsetPay Details: $100,000.00 to $125,000.00 per yearSearch managed by: Bruce Taylor Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to applyRef: US_EN_27_814472_3127441
