Cirrus Aircraft Crew Chief

Location Zionsville, IN 46077, United States Compensation Base Pay: $36.00 - $50.00 per hour Other Compensation: Generous travel and AOG premiums Job Summary Reports to: Director of Maintenance. The Crew Chief serves as the central point of accountability for assigned aircraft throughout the maintenance lifecycle – managing aircraft from arrival through delivery and coordinating technicians, parts procurement, quality assurance, and client communication. Key Responsibilities Oversee aircraft inspections, document incoming condition, and install identification systems. Provide accurate aircraft times, cycles, and engine data to the inspection department for maintenance planning. Execute inventory management protocols and secure key documentation. Collaborate with PM/DOM on client checklists to capture critical information. Build comprehensive work orders, research parts, and obtain accurate pricing. Monitor budget performance and ensure on-time task completion. Identify and manage long‑lead items to prevent delivery delays. Provide status updates to project managers and ensure proper work order completion with correct sign‑offs. Facilitate parts ordering, monitor material shortage reports, and coordinate with the parts department. Return cores and parts in accordance with program requirements. Assign work based on technician strengths, communicate expectations, and deliver training. Maintain clean, organized work areas and address FOD concerns. Coordinate with the Chief/Lead Inspector for timely inspections and quality issues. Execute pre‑delivery planning, complete checklists, and return client inventory items. Collaborate with inspection department on green tag issuance and regulatory documentation. Complete special projects and initiatives as needed. Competitive Edge Hourly rate $36.00 – $50.00 depending on experience. Overtime pay for hours over 40 per week. Daily Schedule Monday‑Friday on site. On‑call or evening/weekend hours may be required for AOG events. Qualifications Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License required. Minimum 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience. Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Experience with maintenance tracking systems and work order management software. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain budgets. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience reading maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn aviation management software platforms. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Valid driver’s license and background‑check clearance. Commitment to Jet Access’s core values. Additional Qualities Prior Crew Chief, Lead Technician, or leadership experience in aviation maintenance. Experience mentoring or supervising technicians. Coordination of aircraft projects from arrival to delivery. Familiarity with specific aircraft types in the Jet Access fleet. Experience with Corridor or similar aviation MRO management systems. Formal project management training or background. Management of maintenance budgets and financial performance tracking. Knowledge of common parts programs and warranty claim processes. Problem‑solving and proactive issue resolution skills. Client and vendor coordination experience. Understanding of lean maintenance principles and continuous improvement. Track record of on‑time aircraft deliveries while maintaining quality. Exceptional interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
