Shift Information

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Unit Profile

Location: Augusta, GA

Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Number of Beds: 29

Patient Ratios: Ideally 1:4, currently 1:5

Unit Staffing and Equipment

Staffing Description: Includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians.

Type of Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Welch Allyn vital signs machines, bladder scan, vein finder.

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling and Policies

Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours per week
Floating Policy: Staff may float to areas where competencies allow.
Patient Experience Requirements: Must provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
Blood Glucose Checks: Conducted as ordered.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Every 4 hours, with increased frequency based on patient condition.

Certifications and Skills

Certifications Required: ACLS

Advanced Skills Needed: Familiarity with cardiac drips and insulin drips.

Dress Code

Required Uniform: Royal blue scrubs; no artificial or gel nails permitted.

The staff in the PCU are very cohesive and work effectively as a team. Candidates who are team-oriented and enjoy collaborative environments are encouraged to apply.

Staff members have the opportunity for self-scheduling, especially for those who prefer working three night shifts consecutively.
