Postdoctoral Researcher

Postdoctoral Researcher Position refers to a Post-Doctoral Associate, funded by the NSF Biofoundry project to develop large language models for biological sequence analysis. The role includes developing and fine‑tuning protein language models for glycoenzyme classification, engineering and function prediction, and providing written reports of project updates and course materials for user training. Position Details Title: Postdoctoral Researcher / Post‑Doctoral Associate Department: Franklin‑Biochemistry Location: Athens, GA Employment Type: Employee (Full‑time, FTE 1.00) Anticipated Start Date: 11/15/2024 Responsibilities Develop and fine‑tune protein language models for proteomics and biological sequence analysis. Assist in writing annual reports for the project and developing materials for user and graduate student training. Train graduate and undergraduate students working on the project. Develop materials for user training and assist with summer workshops on AI and glycobiology. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Familiarity with state‑of‑the‑art machine learning techniques (e.g., protein language models, representation learning, diffusion models, self‑supervised learning). Strong background in computational biology, bioinformatics, and/or data science. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with scientists across disciplines.
