Social Media Specialist

You know the difference between content that gets scheduled and content that gets shared. A 650-seat performance venue with a video wall, a professional media studio, a nationally recognized music festival, a live civic dialogue series — the Library’s got no shortage of stories. We need someone who can find them, shoot them, and turn them into content that actually grows an audience. The Westport Library is Connecticut’s only Five-Star Library and a genuine cultural destination, drawing nearly half a million visitors a year. We’re looking for a platform-fluent storyteller to own our presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube — someone equally comfortable behind a camera at a live event and behind a laptop building a paid campaign. What you’ll be doing Shooting and editing day-of-event video and photos, plus longer-form pieces for YouTube — author interviews, program recaps, behind-the-scenes looks at Verso Studios Spotting the social-first story in a program, a patron moment, or a staff interaction, and shaping it into content that earns real engagement Running a disciplined posting cadence across Facebook and Instagram, and building our LinkedIn presence from zero to a steady weekly rhythm within 90 days Growing our YouTube channel in step with Verso Studios’ production output Managing community engagement in real time, especially during tentpole moments like StoryFest, VersoFest, and BOOKED Planning and reporting on Meta ad campaigns tied to major initiatives Making smart calls on accessibility, permissions, and public trust — you’re posting on behalf of a public institution What You Bring 2–3 years managing organizational or brand social accounts, with real results to show for it Videography chops — shooting, editing, and producing for YouTube or similar Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and Meta advertising A writing voice built for short-form, platform-native captions The flexibility to work evenings and weekends when events call for it Grown a LinkedIn or YouTube presence from scratch Worked in a nonprofit, cultural, or educational institution setting Shot on something better than a phone (DSLR/mirrorless) The Westport Library is an equal opportunity employer. 20 Jesup Road Westport, CT 06880 View phone number on click.appcast.io #J-18808-Ljbffr
