Quality Inspector - Defense Search

Immediate opening for a Quality Inspector in Baldwin Park, CA who possesses:

• 1+ year of quality inspection experience within an Aerospace, Defense, precision machining, or other GD&T-driven manufacturing environment
• Experience using inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gauges, and related precision measurement equipment
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T experience
• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components
• Reliable work ethic and strong attention to detail

FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Quality Inspector to support first-piece, in-process, and production inspection of high-tolerance aerospace components and precision-machined parts. This temp-to-hire role is focused primarily on hands-on dimensional inspection using manual inspection equipment, blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting machined components, strong proficiency with precision measurement tools, and the ability to accurately document inspection results while working closely with Production and Engineering. This role also offers the opportunity to develop additional CMM inspection skills over time.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Performing First Piece inspections as required
• Performing in-process inspections and production audits
• Inspecting precision-machined aerospace and defense components
• Confirming product specifications through visual and dimensional inspection
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, routings, and GD&T requirements
• Using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gauges, and other precision inspection equipment
• Verifying dimensional conformance to engineering and customer requirements
• Communicating required adjustments to Production Supervisors, Machine Operators, Engineering, and Quality personnel
• Documenting inspection results through reports, logs, and quality records
• Summarizing rework, scrap, waste, and inspection findings as required
• Entering inspection and quality data into applicable databases and ERP systems
• Identifying non-conforming material and escalating quality concerns appropriately
• Supporting root cause investigations
• Supporting corrective action findings and implementation
• Working directly with Machine Operators to ensure quality standards are achieved
• Following routings and verifying sequential operations for part processing
• Reviewing and updating applicable ERP transactions and manufacturing records
• Maintaining accurate and organized inspection documentation
• Following established quality, manufacturing, and safety procedures
• Maintaining a safe and organized inspection area
• Supporting continuous improvement and quality initiatives
• Developing additional CMM inspection skills as training and business needs allow
• Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ year of hands-on quality inspection experience required
• Experience within Aerospace, Defense, precision machining, or another tight-tolerance manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Experience working within a GD&T-driven manufacturing environment required
• Strong blueprint reading skills required
• Strong knowledge of GD&T symbols and dimensional requirements required
• Experience using micrometers required
• Experience using calipers required
• Experience using optical comparators preferred
• Experience using height gauges and other precision measuring equipment preferred
• Experience inspecting precision-machined metal components preferred
• Experience performing First Piece and in-process inspections preferred
• Experience documenting non-conformances, rework, scrap, or inspection results preferred
• Experience with ERP or manufacturing quality systems preferred
• Ability to interpret routings and manufacturing process documentation required
• Strong attention to detail required
• Excellent organizational skills required
• Self-motivated and dependable work style required
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to communicate quality concerns effectively with Machine Operators, Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency in blueprint reading and use of inspection tooling during the interview process
• Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR requirements
• Ability to work onsite in Baldwin Park, CA
• Ability to work first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Ability to support a temp-to-hire opportunity

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk throughout manufacturing and inspection areas for extended periods
• Ability to sit or stand at an inspection station while performing dimensional inspection activities
• Ability to use hands and fingers for micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gauges, documentation, and other inspection equipment
• Ability to perform repetitive precision measurement and inspection tasks
• Ability to visually inspect tight-tolerance machined components and identify dimensional or workmanship concerns
• Ability to review blueprints, engineering drawings, routings, GD&T requirements, inspection reports, and computer screens for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and move throughout manufacturing areas as needed
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move standard machined parts, tools, fixtures, and inspection equipment as needed
• Ability to work around CNC machines, production equipment, tooling, machined metal components, and normal manufacturing activity
• Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures
• Ability to maintain accuracy, focus, and attention to detail throughout precision inspection activities

Salary Range: $25 to $28/hour
