MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN Department: Community and Student Affairs Bargaining Unit: Grand Rapids Education Association (GREA) Wage: Determined by the collective bargaining agreement and a comprehensive benefits package Direct Supervisor: Director of Behavioral Health Services JOB SUMMARY The mental health provider delivers assessment, intervention services, crisis intervention, and ongoing therapy to improve scholars' emotional, behavioral, and mental health. The provider promotes social-emotional learning by developing and implementing wellness activities and coordinates with community agencies and school staff. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Works alongside school counselors and administrators to deliver crisis intervention services to scholars as needed. Completes scholar psycho-social risk assessments. Collaborates with community agencies for care coordination. Implements therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based practices. Complies with district, state, and federal policies, including privacy laws. Supports staff in developing goals and objectives. Conducts classroom and small group social skills building sessions. Maintains documentation within established time limits. Conducts group and individual therapy sessions. Collaborates with teachers to support positive classroom practices. Communicates clearly with staff and scholars in stressful situations. Complies with the collective bargaining agreement. Participates in meetings directed by the Behavioral Health Program Manager. Documents and bills services as needed. Uses technology tools for scholar self-management. Works on school initiatives supporting intervention strategies. Conferences with parents and district staff as needed. Participates in special projects or committees as assigned. Establishes communication systems between social worker, teachers, and parents. Engages in professional development. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology. Fully licensed or limited license in social work, counseling, or psychology. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates use of technology for work and therapy sessions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature. Thorough knowledge of psychological assessment practices. Effectively works in a multicultural environment and bridges language/cultural barriers. Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Presents information effectively and responds to questions from administrators and staff. Interprets instructions in various formats. Applies current research to sessions. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with scholars, peers, parents, and community. Communicates clearly in written and oral form.
