Physician Assistant

About the Role The PA practices medicine under physician supervision, conducting examinations, prescribing medications, and providing diagnostic and therapeutic services. Within the PA‑physician relationship, the PA exercises autonomy in medical decision making and serves patients in primary care areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, and surgical subspecialties. The PA may also manage education, research, and administrative functions. What You’ll Be Doing Conduct physical examinations, assess health status, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications. Treat illnesses, perform injections, and suture wounds. Consult with physicians and refer for more complex cases beyond PA scope. Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care. Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems. Respond to emergencies, including CPR. Counsel patients and families on preventive health care. Document patient information in medical records and maintain department statistical databases for research. What We Expect from You Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of an accredited PA program. Four years of health‑care experience prior to the PA program, plus at least one year of PA experience, preferably in a clinic setting. Required Skills Reasoning ability: solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions. Computer proficiency: competent use of computer information systems. Physical Demands The job requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, speaking, and hearing. The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Work Environment Professional office environment with standard equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines). Travel Local travel during the business day; occasional out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be expected.
