Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med Specialty Step Down unit requiring stepdown and tracheostomy experience along with a compact or Oklahoma RN license.

Details

• Med Specialty Step Down unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
• Cares for a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and delegates tasks to support staff

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Stepdown and tracheostomy experience required
• ICU experience preferred
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Assists physicians with examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatments
• Administers medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
• Communicates care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
• Makes appropriate referrals regarding patient care needs
• Facility enforces strict compliance deadlines and does not allow push starts once booked
• Candidates must be booked at least 4 weeks from time of offer to allow for compliance clearance
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers may extend only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
