Electrical Maintenance Technician

This full-time Electrical Maintenance Technician role focuses on repairing and maintaining industrial machinery in a factory setting for a diversified manufacturer specializing in textile, plastic, and metal fabrication. You will perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of automated equipment and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain industrial machinery and equipment in a factory environment to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment and correct issues that do not meet maintenance standards.
• Perform corrective maintenance on equipment involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in electrical devices, systems, and equipment using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Replace defective parts and components as necessary to restore equipment to proper working condition.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and maintenance checklists.
• Work with automation systems, including PLCs, robotics, and related control equipment, to identify and resolve issues.
• Use PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic to diagnose and correct control system problems.
• Perform electrical wiring tasks, including work on three-phase systems, in accordance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending long-term corrective actions.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production personnel to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
• Perform basic welding tasks as needed to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Document maintenance activities accurately and ensure equipment records remain up to date.

Essential Skills

• 35 years of commercial electrical experience required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical devices, systems, and industrial equipment.
• Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or factory setting.
• Proficiency working with electrical maintenance on industrial machinery.
• Ability to work with mechanical systems, including moving parts and assemblies.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatic systems for maintenance and repair.
• Skill in PLC troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, including ladder logic.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical documentation and maintenance checklists.
• Experience with automation systems and industrial control equipment.
• Competence working with three-phase electrical systems.
• Ability to perform electrical wiring safely and to standard.
• Capability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance independently.
• Willingness and ability to work a full-time schedule of approximately 40 hours per week.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming is a plus.
• Exposure to robotics and automation programming is beneficial.
• Basic welding skills to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Background in industrial maintenance across textile, plastic, or metal fabrication environments is an advantage.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment such as baskets, hampers, trucks, and bulk storage systems is helpful.
• Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical aspects of maintenance, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail in diagnosing complex equipment issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site role in a factory environment with industrial machinery and automated equipment. The position follows a day shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for an expected 40 hours per week. You will work around textile, plastic, and metal fabrication processes, as well as material handling products such as baskets, hampers, trucks, tote boxes, and bulk storage tubs. The environment includes electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as automation, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, and three-phase power systems. The role requires adherence to standard industrial safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and maintenance setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Ellicott City, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $74880.00/yr. Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) Company paid life insurance. 401(k) with match and profit sharing. Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick time.
