Success in this role is determined by the ability to cul ti vate and nurture a posi ti ve team environment; supervising, developing, and guiding team members; uphold quality control opera ti ons while emphasizing safety, ethics, integrity, and efficiency; proac ti vely managing risk; and complying ethically with all internal and external policies, specifica ti ons, procedures, and standards.Responsibilities:Leadership:Develop a high-performance culture by leading, mentoring, and motivating a team of technicians.Foster an inclusive environment of open, honest, and effective communication within and across teams, built on respect and trust.Exercise good judgment to make effective, informed, and timely decisions that align with and support the department's strategic plan.Adapt and remain resilient in response to constraints, failures, and adverse circumstances.Assess the team's performance and accomplishments and implement improvements and innovations to increase efficiency and work quality.Guide your teams through periods of change, acting as a change champion.Advance the performance management process for your team members, including setting personal objectives, providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and addressing performance issues timely.Delegate responsibilities appropriately, monitoring for understanding and performance.Use appropriate modes to deliver clear, concise, and well-organized written and oral communication.Listen effectively, provide appropriate feedback, and ask questions to clarify issues and create insights for others.Demonstrate self and social awareness, reflecting on your activities and the impact on others, seeking and acting upon feedback without defensiveness.Build effective relationships and cross-functional partnerships to share information, establish collaborations, and leverage expertise.Operational Management:Manage the people and assets for your area, allocating those resources in a manner that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness of ethical testing.Ensure your team members have the resources to deliver their tasks effectively and efficiently.Identify and resolve potential problems before they escalate, taking prompt action to address issues.Adjust priorities to meet multiple demands and unanticipated events.Maintain regular and effective communication with team members to ensure clear understanding of goals, expectations, work hours, and to follow up on previous goal deadlines.Manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.Proactively anticipate, manage, and resolve conflicts and disagreements.Deliver high-quality products and customer service, meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.Technical Expertise:Demonstrate and direct adherence to all legal guidelines, governing regulations and specifications, and Company policies to ensure ethical compliance.Ensure that all team members fully comply with the expectations, policies, procedures, and standards as detailed in the Quality Management System and QC Technician ManualCertify that all your team members are properly trained, understand, maintain current certifications for testing tr equ equipped with resources to ensure their personal safety and perform their duties as required.Complete and maintain compliance items on time and as assigned in the QCS Compliance Requirements and Reminders database, or as directed.Audit projects, laboratories, and evaluates team members to ensure the testing and reporting is executed effectively, efficiently, safely and in accordance with the specifications and company policies, procedures, and standards.Aware of how our equipment compares with customers' equipment to predict QC/QV variability and risk.Review all test results produced by team members in real-time, analyzing trends. Assist with troubleshooting and implement process control changes and/or corrective actions to minimize risk.Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the most current specifications, process control, and material production troubleshooting.Possess in-depth knowledge of Concrete Redi-mix plants, Concrete paving operations, aggregate crush/wash processes, and their impact on test results.Understand the science behind Concrete production, aggregates, and applicable calculations.Guarantee that all laboratories and equipment are calibrated, checked, and standardized per AASHTO R18, the Quality Management System and QC Technician Manual.Continually educate oneself to be a compliance expert and take accountability for compliance with the latest specifications, regulations, governing standards and procedures, and production and installation process control.Qualifications:Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in testing concrete, road materials and construction.Knowledge of the principles, practices, specifications, and procedures of the concrete construction industryPossess or can obtain current WisDOT PCC I, II and/or PCC MDC or ACA MDOT (MI) certification.Demonstrated satisfactory performance in directing construction concrete testing.Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.Capacity to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently.Exceptional skills in both written and oral communication.Willingness to undertake local and regional travel.The Benefits:Competitive compensation aligned with industry standardsEmployer Paid Medical Plan with HRA contribution (eligibility requirements)Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceFlex Spending Account (FSA)Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Company-paid short and long-term disability coveragePaid parental leaveGenerous PTO and paid holidaysProfit sharingRobust Walbec training and professional development programOngoing career growth opportunitiesWe are an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action employer, and it is our practice to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants.
