Salary$200000 - $250000LocationBoston, UKContractPermanentTypeHybridIndustryActuarialContactAzra Meral View email address on click.appcast.io Director, Commercial Lines ActuarialLocation: Webster, MA / Boston, MAWork Arrangement: Hybrid – ideally 3-4 days per week in Webster; flexibility for Boston and potentially remote for an exceptional candidateCompensation: $200,000-$250,000 base + 15% target bonusA well-established, leading P&C insurer is seeking a Director, Commercial Lines Actuarial to lead pricing and actuarial strategy across a broad Commercial Lines portfolio.This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for an experienced actuarial professional who enjoys combining technical pricing expertise with commercial decision-making and people leadership.You will lead actuarial pricing and profitability initiatives across Commercial Lines, partnering closely with Underwriting, Product, Finance, Claims, Data, IT and senior leadership.Key responsibilities include:Lead pricing strategy across Commercial Auto, BOP, CPP and other Commercial Lines portfolios.Monitor rate adequacy, profitability, underwriting mix and segmentation.Conduct rate indications, rate impact analysis and pricing studies.Develop and enhance rating plans and actuarial models.Partner with Underwriting to support profitable growth and portfolio strategy.Translate actuarial analysis into clear commercial recommendations for senior leadership.Work with IT and Data teams to implement pricing logic and analytical solutions.Support rate filings, planning, budgeting and other business initiatives.Lead and develop a team of two actuarial analysts.What They’re Looking For10+ years of P&C actuarial experience.ACAS required; FCAS preferred.Strong Commercial Lines pricing experience, particularly Commercial Auto, BOP and/or CPP.Experience with rate adequacy, profitability analysis, segmentation and rate filings.Strong technical and data manipulation capabilities, particularly SQL.Experience with SAS, R, Python or comparable analytical tools.Previous people management or leadership experience.Strong communication skills and the ability to influence Underwriting and senior stakeholders.Commercial acumen and the ability to connect actuarial analysis with broader business strategy.Why Consider the Opportunity?Director-level ownership across a significant Commercial Lines portfolio.Lead and develop a team while working closely with experienced actuarial leadership.High visibility with senior management and cross-functional business partners.Opportunity to influence pricing, profitability, underwriting strategy and portfolio growth.Collaborative actuarial environment with strong interaction across the wider business.Competitive compensation of $200K-$255.8K base + 15% target bonus.Potential sign-on support may be available depending on individual circumstances.Comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) match/profit sharing, medical, dental, vision, PTO and wellness benefits.If you are an ACAS/FCAS Commercial Lines actuary looking for a Director-level opportunity with meaningful pricing ownership and business exposure, this could be an excellent next step.Apply confidentially or reach out for further details.
