Interim Assistant Controller

Location: Converse, TX (Onsite) Pay Rate: $60-$75/hour Duration: Mid-October 2026 through April 2027 Potential Contract-to-Hire Opportunity What You'll Do Own and lead the month-end close process from day one Review journal entries prepared by the accounting team Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for a significant entity carve-out project Lead year-end audit preparation and manage all PBC (Prepared By Client) requests Ensure timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accounting discipline Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and bank reporting packages Review and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules Partner with accounting and operational leadership to support ongoing business initiatives Help maintain strong internal controls and accounting processes Support knowledge transfer and transition activities if the role converts to a permanent hire Qualifications Required Hands‑on Controller or Assistant Controller level accounting leadership experience Ability to independently manage the close process with minimal training Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Advanced Excel skills Preferred Construction accounting experience Strong understanding of WIP accounting and percentage‑of‑completion reporting Experience with Spectrum ERP Experience supporting audits and managing auditor requests What We're Looking For Strong communication and relationship‑building skills A collaborative leadership style Flexibility and adaptability during periods of change A willingness to mentor and support team development A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset Schedule Standard hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Overtime only with prior approval If you're an experienced accounting leader who enjoys stepping into critical situations, driving results, and making an immediate impact, we'd love to hear from you.
