About the Position

Job Title: RN - Med/Surg (CNA) Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg (CNA) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Experience on Med/Surg floor preferable License: Current RN license in state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor Must-Have: - Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent: Required - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred Description: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing nursing care to patients on the medical/surgical unit. Orients to the care of age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients. Cares for adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Includes care planning, vital signs, medication dosages, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel based on their scope of practice. Provides appropriate nursing interventions for stable and emergent patient situations. Competent in routine nursing skills including medication administration, intravenous therapy, and the care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains. Ensures safe use of medical equipment such as glucose meters, IV pumps, and PCA machines. Addresses age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients, including those with hearing, learning, and physical disabilities. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with the healthcare team. Competent in epidural management, care of acute post-operative wounds, sterile technique, and assessment of vascular patency. Educates patients and their families regarding care, using teaching methods appropriate to age, condition, culture, and assessed learning readiness. Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and scope of practice. Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided. Completes clear, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care performed, including patients' responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve care, services, and unit operations. Maintains openness to change and seeks new goals for the unit. Efficiently uses downtime for job-related tasks including chart auditing, cleaning, and restocking. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable.
