Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Current nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - 2 years of experience required - Previous charge experience - Patient ratio experience - Experience in a Level I trauma center preferred - Travel experience preferred Description: These needs are specifically for winter coverage for one 10-week contract only. Local radius restrictions are waived for this assignment. Must start by the designated date. No holiday requests for time off. No more than 5 days requested time off permitted. The patient ratio is 1:3 on days, nights, and weekends. Floating to PCU, other ICUs, and additional campuses may be required. End of week coverage is expected. COVID-19 vaccination is not required, but the flu vaccine is required with no exemptions. The facility is a short-term acute care Level I trauma center with 1,567 staffed beds. Charting is done via an electronic health record system. Special procedures include high-acuity medical intensive care and stepdown. Common patient diagnoses include acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver/renal failure, post-cardiac arrest, and GI bleed. The ICU maintains a 1:1 or 2:1 patient ratio unless there are extenuating circumstances. For each 28-bed floor, either 2 or 3 patient care assistants are available depending on the time of day. There are two charge nurses for the full unit. Return staff policy requires that individuals be gone for 2 years to return as a traveler.
