Social Security Department Associate

We are a well established Albany Firm committed to representing injured, disabled, and chronically ill individuals in the Capital District and Hudson Valley before the New York State Workers' Compensation Board and Social Security Administration. We are seeking a full time Associate to join our Social Security Department.

This is NOT a remote position. It is a hands on opportunity with direct client interaction, case management and courtroom exposure.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing assistance and guidance to individuals navigating Social Security Title II and Title XVI claims from initial application, reconsideration, hearing and administrative appeal.

Communicating with clients, medical providers and government agencies by telephone, in writing and in person on a frequent basis.

Reviewing and updating Social Security Administration electronic case files consisting of voluminous medical and educational records.

Preparing and submitting Pre-Hearing memorandum, appearing and representing clients at Administrative Hearings before a Social Security Administrative Law Judge.

Required skills include:

• Strong writing and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to multitask and work independently
• Admission to New York or Federal Bar.
• Experience and understanding of Social Security Statutes, Rules and Regulations is preferred but not required.
• Salary is commensurate with experience.
