Homestead Health CenterJob Description and RequirementsCharge Nurse (RN or LPN)Organization: Homestead Health CenterPosition Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeSupervisor: Director of NursingPosition Summary:The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing direct resident care, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and facility policies, and supervising nursing assistants. This role requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills to provide high-quality resident care.Key Responsibilities:Provide supervision and evaluation of resident care, ensuring compliance with established policies and proceduresConduct resident rounds, identifying and addressing concerns promptlyCommunicate and coordinate with nursing assistants, residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teamsAdminister and document medications and treatments as prescribedRecognize and respond to resident emergencies, initiating life-saving measures when necessaryIdentify safety hazards and take immediate corrective actionsMonitor, assess, and document resident conditions and interventionsReport changes in resident status to the appropriate personnel and take necessary follow-up actionsOversee compliance with Residents’ Rights Program and maintain ethical and professional standardsSupervise and evaluate nursing assistants, providing training and guidance as neededAttend staff meetings, in-service training, and other required meetingsAssist in resident admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, ensuring proper documentation and communication with relevant departmentsAddress concerns from residents, families, or physicians, implementing corrective action or escalating issues as neededCompletes assigned monthly automated learning in accordance with Homestead PolicyRequired Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursingLicensed as an RN or LPN in the state of KansasCurrent CPR certificationExperience in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care or geriatric care, is highly preferredStrong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient careAbility to maintain accurate records and documentation using electronic health systemsExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsA compassionate, patient-centered approach to providing careAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamAttention to detail and adherence to care protocolsPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentialityPrior experience working in a nonprofit or long-term care facilityCurrent IV certificationWork Environment:This position operates within a healthcare facility and requires frequent standing, walking, and hands-on resident care.
