This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of statistical science, drug development strategy, and cross-functional execution within a global biopharmaceutical environment. The position is responsible for shaping biostatistics strategy across multiple programs and therapeutic areas, ensuring rigorous scientific standards while enabling data-driven decision-making at scale. You will lead and grow high-performing teams of statisticians, guiding both people leaders and individual contributors. The role has broad influence across development functions, partnering closely with executive stakeholders to define priorities and long-term direction. It requires the ability to translate complex scientific and regulatory challenges into clear, actionable strategies that accelerate innovation. This is a highly visible role with enterprise-wide impact on clinical and development outcomes.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and develop biostatistics teams, including managing people leaders and fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture across multiple programs and therapeutic areas.
- Define and contribute to short- and long-term biostatistics strategy, infrastructure, and priorities aligned with enterprise development goals.
- Provide statistical leadership across complex, multi-functional clinical development programs, ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to influence strategic decisions, investment priorities, and portfolio direction.
- Oversee the integration and interpretation of complex datasets to support decision-making across development workstreams.
- Act as a key advisor in shaping statistical methodologies, regulatory interactions, and scientific communication across internal and external audiences.
- Drive cross-functional alignment and execution across Development, Regulatory, Clinical, and other key business functions.
Requirements:
This role requires extensive experience in biostatistics within complex drug development environments, combined with strong leadership capability and strategic thinking. Candidates should bring deep technical expertise in statistical methodologies as well as a proven ability to lead large teams and influence enterprise-level decisions. The ideal profile demonstrates strong communication skills, regulatory understanding, and the ability to operate at executive level.
- 12+ years (PhD) or 15+ years (MS) of progressive industry experience in biostatistics or related scientific disciplines
- Proven leadership experience building, managing, and scaling biostatistics teams and functions
- Strong expertise in clinical development, statistical methodologies, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute biostatistics strategy across large, complex portfolios
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement
- Experience collaborating across global development functions and influencing cross-functional decisions
- Strong analytical thinking, scientific rigor, and ability to translate complex data into strategic insight
