Medicaid FANS Investigator

Overview The Office of the Attorney General seeks a highly motivated Investigator to join the Medicaid Fraud, Abuse, and Neglect Services (MFANS) Division. In this role, you will investigate and prosecute healthcare provider fraud that undermines the healthcare system, spanning settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, and pharmacies. MFANS also protects vulnerable populations by investigating abuse, neglect, and exploitation in healthcare environments. This position is full-time and exempt from the Civil Service Act. Responsibilities Investigate Medicaid provider fraud, including drug diversion within the healthcare industry, and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Conduct investigations that improve patient safety and uphold the integrity of the healthcare system. Prepare clear investigative reports and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders. Licenses and Certifications State of South Dakota law enforcement certification, or the ability to become a South Dakota certified law enforcement officer. Applicants must meet all minimum standards for law enforcement employment and certification at the time of appointment. If not certified, completion of a thirteen-week basic law enforcement certification course is required. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Be a certified law enforcement officer in the State of South Dakota. Three years of criminal or fraud investigative experience. Special consideration for applicants with backgrounds in healthcare, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing.
