Duties

• You will disassemble, repair, assemble, modify, measure, and/or check, as required, to process aircraft, aircraft engine structures, components, assembles, and/or sub-assemblies.
• You will perform a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components.
• You will work with plastics and various metals and apply knowledge of basic level shop mathematics.
• You will work from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions and at times, under the guidance of a higher-graded mechanic.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. Any weight to be lifted in excess of 40 lbs. will not be attempted unaided.
• You will be subject to various noise levels which continuously exceeds 85 DBA. Hearing protection will be required for noise levels of 85 DBA and double protection will be required for noise levels over 105 DBA.
• This position requires near vision correctable at 14" to Jaegar 2 and far vision correctable in one eye 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other. You must be able to distinguish colors and depth perception.
• This position may require climbing which could exceed heights of 20 feet or more.
• You must obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

• Working from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions, and at times, under the guidance of a higher-graded mechanic;
• Performing a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout, and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components;
• Using hand power tools (drills, rivet, guns, routers, etc.), and metal working hand tools (snips, punches, files, plier, hammers, mallets, etc.) and/or working with hand or power press brakes, shears, shrinking and stretching tools, hydraulic presses, sanders or machines in the process or repairing, manufacturing or modifying aircraft or aircraft engine assemblies or parts;
• Checking and realigning components using available jigs and fixtures after replacing structural parts or reinstalling fittings. Incumbent uses measuring instruments such as steel rules, drill gauges, compasses, and other precision-measuring devices; and
• Applying knowledge of basic level shop mathematics to calculate and scribe patterns and apply principles of parallel or radial line development and triangulation.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires evening and weekend work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
