Respiratory Therapist

Resurrection Medical Center, a leading healthcare facility in Chicago, IL, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join its Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this patient-centered role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and, as applicable, pediatric and neonatal patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, you will assess, plan, and deliver evidence‑based respiratory treatments and therapies in alignment with individualized care plans and established clinical protocols. Responsibilities Perform respiratory assessments and administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions. Manage and troubleshoot ventilators and other advanced life‑support equipment in critical care and general care settings. Respond promptly to emergency situations such as rapid responses and codes, assisting with airway management, intubation support, and resuscitation efforts. Interpret and analyze diagnostic tests (arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, pulse oximetry) and adjust treatment plans based on patient status and provider orders. Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and education accurately in the electronic medical record to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance. Participate actively in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate clearly with patients and families about respiratory therapies and home‑care strategies. Contribute to process improvement and clinical quality initiatives, and follow infection prevention and equipment maintenance standards. Qualifications Solid clinical skills in respiratory care and familiarity with current respiratory care guidelines and best practices. Ability to prioritize and manage a dynamic workload, and strong critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, primarily in an on‑site clinical environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
