AVP/VP Underwriter - P&C Excess & Umbrella

We are recruiting an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support attorneys in a respected Cleveland law office. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who understands Ohio workers’ compensation procedures and can independently manage claims, filings, and deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare workers’ compensation claims for administrative hearings

• Draft pleadings, claim summaries, correspondence, and other legal documents

• Request, organize, and review medical records

• Coordinate independent medical examinations and prepare summary correspondence

• Monitor case activity, filing requirements, and critical deadlines

• Submit documents electronically to courts and administrative agencies

• Proofread filings for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules

• Assist with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials

• Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and outside parties

• Identify potential issues and escalate them appropriately

Qualifications:

• At least three years of paralegal experience in a law firm or other legal setting

• Working knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and Industrial Commission of Ohio procedures

• Paralegal certificate, related degree, or bachelor’s degree preferred

• Strong Microsoft Office skills

• Excellent writing, proofreading, analytical, and organizational abilities

• Ability to manage competing priorities and complete time-sensitive assignments

• Sound judgment and a proactive approach to attorney support

Compensation and Benefits:

• $72,000 - 105,000 per year, based on experience, education, and qualifications
