The Company is in search of a Divisional Assistant Vice President or Vice President of Underwriting for P&C Excess and Umbrella. The successful candidate will be tasked with a wide range of technical underwriting, pricing, and coverage issues within the home office. This pivotal role demands a leader with a strong background in insurance and reinsurance liability underwriting, capable of ensuring high-quality underwriting, adequate pricing, and innovative product development. Key responsibilities include managing and processing underwriting referrals, providing clear and detailed approvals or denials, and maintaining a deep understanding of underwriting guidelines and product knowledge. The role also involves acting as a key point of contact for regulatory and policy compliance, with a focus on SOX compliance and conducting regular audits. Applicants for this role at the company should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have a minimum of 10 years' of experience in liability underwriting, with a preference for those with exposure to reinsurance and referral processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, and a majority of their experience on the retail side.
