Travel RN Renal Med-Surg Unit: 21-Bed Renal/Medical-Surgical Shift: 36 hrs/week | 7:00 PM 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required Contract Type: Travel/Temporary Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our busy 19-bed Renal Med-Surg unit specializing in the care of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, post-dialysis needs, and complex medical-surgical conditions. This high-acuity unit manages a diverse patient population requiring continuous monitoring, frequent assessments, and multidisciplinary coordination. The ideal candidate is confident in managing renal-related complications while thriving in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult renal and medical-surgical patients Manage patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, and post-dialysis needs Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry Collaborate with nephrologists and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Float as needed within scope to similar Med-Surg units, including Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, Observation, and ED boarders Qualifications Active Ohio RN license (required at submission) Current BLS certification Minimum 3 years of recent Med-Surg and Telemetry experience (renal experience strongly preferred) Proven ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips Competency test required on Day 1; failure results in immediate contract termination Epic EMR proficiency (mandatory, no training provided) Lack of Epic proficiency results in immediate termination Additional Details No on-call requirement Must demonstrate adaptability, efficiency, and strong critical thinking in a high-volume setting Epic proficiency must be clearly documented in submission Candidates must meet all requirements at submission
