Functional Safety Engineer (Level 2 - Team Lead)

The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with current off highway machine functional safety regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Dutie:

• Lead all actions and tasks related to functional safety projects.
• Apply safety and regulatory standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 19014, ISO 12100 or comparable safety standards during product development.
• Involved in the development of system level hazard analysis, HARA activities ‘as per ISO 12100 ISO13849/ISO 19014 and IEC 61508 and determine the safety function.
• Write system concept design from the safety function defining system designed to achieve the safe state.
• Ensure that engineering team provides the input data necessary for the quantification and justification and parameters (MTTFd, DC, CCF, etc.) required for the evaluation of the level of performance (PL).
• Partner with engineering team to translate the system safety requirement to safety design architecture and functional safety requirements
• Communicate on gaps between achieved and required PL/SIL values. Determine with hardware and software designers and what design improvements are required.
• Support system and sub-system design teams with respect to system FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis
• Maintains documented roles & responsibilities for each functional safety representative of the functional groups.
• Establish Verification & Validation strategies and any certification activities required by the project
• Ensures the functional safety project is delivered on time and with quality
• Help internal or external auditors in compliance reviews.

Competencies

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor/Master of Science in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, or similar fields.
  Minimum of 3-5 years of experience on Function safety projects for Off-Road Machine. Working
  knowledge with safety standards like IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 19014. Experience in defending
  Safety Analysis (FMEA, FTA, etc.) at the system level. Excellent written and verbal communication and
  people engagement skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
• This position is remote work eligible.

Pay Range: $101,000 - $140,000
