HVAC Technician

Installs, maintains and operates the HVAC and utility systems of the medical center to assure optimal safety and compliance with medical center and regulation standards. Performs at the very highest skilled craftsman levels responsible for the most complex systems. Responds to emergencies 24 hours/day as available. Work is both indoor and outdoor. Some areas are hot and noisy. Inclement weather can be a factor. Frequently encounter hazards associated with electrical repairs, exposures to hazardous materials and hot working conditions. Requires using caution while handling chemicals. Requires flexible work schedule, weekend and on-call work. Ability to conceptualize complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, and HVAC systems from installation to maintenance and repairs. Responsible for solving the most difficult system problems. Occasional extremely heavy work. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions. Must direct the work of skilled craftsmen. Wide use of complex tool and equipment requiring highly skilled craftsmen. Primary accountability for continuation of HVAC and utility systems.
