Lead Diesel Mechanic

Diesel MechanicThe Diesel Mechanic will possess the knowledge to maintain, repair and service diesel truck engines, including transmissions, brakes systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering systems as well as basic mechanical skills. They will perform all tasks according to work orders created by the Mechanical Service Writer in line with the Ohio Truck Sales standards. This technician will work in a timely manner yet still focus on the quality of the job done.Key Responsibilities / Essential Job FunctionsFollow work order instructions to make repairs per the FMCSAMake mechanical repairs including engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering, rear-ends, etc.Troubleshoot and repair 12-volt wiring and lightingRepair air leaksInstalling Brake Shoes and DrumsReplace bolt-on parts, i.e., steering pumps, steering boxes, AC compressors, blower motors, etc.In depth understanding of all mechanical components of heavy-duty trucksGood analytical and problem-solving skills to find the source of problems / malfunctionsAbility to work with hand tools, precision, and other equipmentAbility to follow work order instructionsCommunicate with the Mechanical Service Writer on other issues that may arise during work order completionWork in a safe manner and wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)Follow all company policies and proceduresMust provide own tools & toolboxPerforms other job-related duties assignedRequired Education, Skills & AbilitiesHigh School graduation or its equivalentPrior experience working on diesel enginesAbility to complete standard jobs equivalent to or less than documented Standard Repair TimesASE Certification preferredCDL A or B preferredPrevious emissions experience preferred but not requiredPhysical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of the job.Physical demands include:Must be able to lift and carry 50+ poundsConstant hand, fingers, and arm useMust be able to climb up and down a ladderAbility to continuously stand or walkAbility to manipulate small hand toolsAbility to bend, squat, and lift frequentlyPushing and pulling objects weighing 50+ poundsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
