Position Summary

The CAD Drafter is responsible for preparing, revising, and maintaining accurate engineering drawings and documentation for chemical plant facilities, equipment, piping, and related systems. The position works closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and field personnel to develop drawings that meet project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and plant requirements.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings for chemical plant projects and facility modifications.
• Develop and maintain drawings for piping, equipment, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation systems as required.
• Produce plot plans, equipment layouts, piping plans, elevations, sections, details, and isometric drawings.
• Update existing plant drawings based on field surveys, engineering changes, redlines, and as-built information.
• Incorporate engineering markups and design changes into drawings accurately and efficiently.
• Review drawings for dimensional accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
• Coordinate drawing interfaces with piping, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering disciplines.
• Assist engineers and designers with preparation of construction and fabrication drawings.
• Maintain CAD files, drawing registers, revisions, and electronic project documentation.
• Perform field verification and gather measurements and information needed to update existing drawings.
• Ensure drawings follow company CAD standards, client specifications, title block requirements, and document-control procedures.
• Support preparation of as-built drawings and turnover documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate comments and approved changes.
• Assist with maintaining plant layouts and documentation for brownfield and facility modification projects.
• Follow applicable OSHA, plant safety, engineering, and drafting standards and procedures.
• Communicate with project teams to resolve drafting and design discrepancies.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or other applicable CAD design software.
