Starting Date: August 24, 2026 Position Type: Part‑time Job Categories: Classroom Teacher > Art Job Description Captain Isaac Paine School is seeking a highly qualified long‑term substitute Art Teacher. The successful candidate will foster students’ interest in creative expression through visual arts, develop their skills and techniques in alignment with school guidelines, and support students in building aesthetic understanding and appreciation. The position will begin on August 24, 2026, and conclude approximately on November 25, 2026, with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history. Provide instruction that helps students develop concepts, appreciations, and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art. Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting and explain the versatility of paints. Apply elements of design and modern principles of art, and use fundamental drawing media techniques. Instruct students in the proper care and use of tools and equipment. Organize storage areas and manage the use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse and to minimize time required for distribution and collection. Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepare progress reports. Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the school or through self‑selected professional growth activities. Communicate with parents and school staff regarding pupil progress. View student artwork from throughout the year. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by administration. Qualifications Minimum of one year of work experience as an art teacher. Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field. Preferred: at least one year of relevant experience. Citizenship, residency or a valid work visa is required.
