As the busiest Level III Trauma hospital in Tennessee, you will be part of a 35-bed Acute Medical Care/Oncology Unit, primarily serving adults with various acute medical conditions. Our oncology patients offer nurses the chance to become chemotherapy certified and to provide care for Hospice and Palliative Care patients.

Position Summary and Qualifications
As an Acute Medical Care Nurse, your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and state and specialty standards. You will collaborate with medical professionals and the care team to provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, adhering to established nursing models such as ‘Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.’ Additionally, you will advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying our organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the patient’s condition upon admission and during each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in their status.
- Carry out procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care in the patient’s medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient’s therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in case of any adverse reactions.
- Deliver exceptional care by responding swiftly to patient requests, proactively anticipating their needs, and resolving issues effectively.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring clarity by simplifying complex medical terminology.
Qualifications Required:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
- ACLS certification must be acquired within 6 months of starting employment.
- A minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
Our facility is a 234-bed comprehensive center serving Davidson, Wilson, and surrounding counties, featuring a Level III Trauma Center. We provide a full range of acute care services, including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics/spine, rehabilitation, and women’s services. We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI capabilities and a Primary Stroke Center, recognized as a leading provider of emergency heart and stroke care.
