Job Details Salary Range : Undisclosed Description Join the vibrant team at American Forest Management, Inc. (AFM) as a Forester in Silas, AL. Reporting directly to the Area Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in comprehensive forest management, overseeing planning, permitting, timber harvest, road construction, silviculture, client reporting, and budgeting. Office/Work Location: Silas, AL Key Responsibilities: All aspects of fieldwork, office work, analysis, and reporting to landowner/client. Lead silviculture and reforestation planning, managing contracts efficiently. Harvest unit layouts in adherence to state BMP’s and meeting landowner objectives. Oversee road construction, maintenance, permitting, and contract administration. Collaborate in budget development and management. Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) for effective property management. Operate within the various forest certification systems, SFI. FSC and Tree Farm objectives. Fulfill other assignments from the District and Region Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry preferred or related field or Associate’s Degree in Forestry with 2+ years of experience. Must have Registered Forester License in Alabama Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficient team player with adaptability. Capability to work in challenging field conditions. Valid Driver’s License with safe vehicle operation skills. Preferred experience with ArcGIS software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel. Soft Skills: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, attention to detail, time management and decision-making. Work Environment: This role balances office work with remote field assignments. Fieldwork often involves solo ventures into remote forest lands accessed by private unimproved roads, necessitating off-road driving skills. Expect extended periods outdoors, including adverse weather conditions like summer heat and extreme cold. Travel to properties across Alabama is required, potentially involving out-of-town and overnight stays (expenses covered). Salary and Benefits: Expected salary commensurate with experience.
